In 2008, the Western Union Foundation awarded grants to 276 organizations in more than 75 countries and territories, supporting causes from natural disaster relief to fostering educational opportunities for disadvantaged children and adults.
In order to maximize resources and create a greater impact in communities, the Foundation will not accept unsolicited proposals in 2010. The Foundation will work with its current NGO partners and solicit proposals from NGOs that closely align with the Foundation's education and economic development program areas.
