The Western Union Foundation Agent Giving program provides Agents with a unique opportunity to come together in support of education, economic opportunity and disaster relief initiatives. By working together, Agents can have an even greater impact on the lives of consumers around the world.
Together, Western Union and participating Agents identify a geography, issue or program that warrants special attention. This could involve a response to an urgent situation, like the 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti. It could be a grant for a large-scale or innovative program that is greater than any one Western Union department or Agent could take on alone, such as the combined efforts behind the African Disapora Marketplace program. Or, it could involve Agents reaching out across corridors or within an individual community to recognize and address a pressing local need, as when groups of Agents in Benin and Côte d'Ivoire banded together to re-furnish local classrooms, or when the Vietnam Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (VBARD) joined the Agent Giving program to support the Vietnam Association of Manpower Supply (VAMAS).
In each case, projects are identified that meet Western Union's giving criteria and Agents combine their funds to amplify the effects of their gifts on the issues and geographic areas they care about most. In many cases, the Western Union Foundation will match Agent donations dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of the gift on the beneficiary community. When we all work together, there's almost no limit to the good we can do!
